Current Project

Affect Engineering is an approach to modeling emotions that utilizes the universal language of math to simulate them.   In addition to math, Affect Engineering is also explicated with a neurological network model and a physics inspired theory of drives.  Both are derived from the original math functions and they serve to explain them at the microscopic level of action potentials and neurotransmitters, and at the macroscopic level of decision making.  The functions and their two extensions are employed to model a number of concepts, such as the following:

– Approximately Fifty Emotions

– Empathy and Vicarious Emotions

– Neurological Networks

– Drives

– Contingencies and Learning

– Attention and Reasoning

– Biological Rhythms

– Dreams and Nightmares

– Ethics and Decision Making

– Defense Mechanisms
